The submitted pieces are parts of a full Dance Concert performed at Auburn University, Telfair Peet Theatre on March 2016. Creating a performance space/architecture with lights and projection has been my research focus for the past few years and I have designed many spaces for dance performances in collaboration with choreographers based on this concept.
I am always looking for innovative ways to design, approaches never used before in dance lighting. For our spring season Dance Concert this year, I experimented with projectors as side lights. This new technique transformed the stage into an ambiguous space with moving bodies as a dynamic structure that constantly re-shaped and re-evaluated the space. It was as if the dancers were the light source themselves and not illuminated by light.
