SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE // ARCHITECTURE

Katherine Ferguson

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT, ARCHITECTURE

Ferguson is a rising third year student in the architecture program at Auburn University. In the spring of 2016, she received the R. Mack and Jamie Freeman Endowed Scholarship. Ferguson was also chosen to study at Rural Studio in the fall of 2016 as well as study abroad program in Rome in the spring of 2017.

The submitted piece is a project board for a proposed design for the Farnsworth House visitors’ center. The board contains watercolor renderings to display the proposed design. Ferguson wanted to blend the beauty of pen drawings and watercolor with advanced technology that so often substitutes art made by hand. The work focuses on the sequence between the designed spaces as well as the exterior views through images created by a fusion of hand made renderings and computer editing.
