Every child who has ever watched a superhero movie has dreamed of being able to fly. They draped a towel around their shoulders, secured it with a safety pin and ran around the backyard dreaming of soaring through the air at high speeds, passing through puffy white clouds and looking down at the people and vehicles below who looked like ants and Matchbox cars.
Auburn University is supposed to be where dreams come true, right? The members of the War Eagle Flying Team are making that dream a reality.
Auburn University will be competing for another national championship this May. The War Eagle Flying Team will look to claim the SAFECON trophy from the National Intercollegiate Flying Association.
The 12-member club will participate in the championship that will be hosted by Ohio State University on May 6-11. Auburn will play host to the 2013 regionals this fall.
The team is basically entirely self-supporting. They don’t use any university funding, so check out one of several ways you can help show your support for the team on their merchandise website.
