Discover Auburn Lecture Series Presents talk on BP Oil Spill

The BP oil spill will be the topic of today’s Discover Auburn Lecture Series.

Judith Sheppard, an associate professor in Auburn University’s Department of Communication and Journalism, will present a talk on “Deep Water in the Deep South: Coastal Alabama’s Complicated Response to the BP Oil Spill,” at 3 p.m. in the Special Collections and Archives Department of RBD Library.

Sheppard associates deeply with the South and its problems because of her roots in the region.

She will be speaking on the work that she has done to uncover the anger of the residents affected by the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, but she will also talk about this region’s resilience and determination in the aftermath of this preventable catastrophe.
