Dr. S. Raj Chaudhury, Associate Director, Biggio Center, recently presented a Symposium with three other colleagues at the American Association for the Advancement of Science Meeting in Chicago. The title of the session was “Thinking Skills for the 21st Century: Teaching for Transfer”. In the session Chaudhury and his colleagues updated faculty on the instructional features known to develop students’ abilities to apply their knowledge and skills in new contexts. Over 30 faculty from three countries attended the session and learned six features of instructional design that promote higher-order thinking, experienced these design features, and had opportunities to design applications of their new knowledge to their own classrooms.
