  2. Import an Existing Meeting into Canvas

Import an Existing Meeting into Canvas

Once you have integrated Zoom into Canvas, you will be able to create new meetings directly in Canvas that will be visible to your students. What if you have already created your meetings through the Zoom web interface and want to import them?

To get started, head into your Canvas course and click on Zoom in the course navigation. Then, click on the text on the top-right that says “Import Meeting”(1). This will open a pop-up window prompting you for your Zoom meeting ID. When you import a Zoom meeting into your course, you will also make the associated Cloud Recordings available under the Cloud Recording tab. This will allow you to copy old Zoom recordings into your new courses.

Please note: You can’t have a single meeting associated with two different courses.

choose Import Meeting from the menu

In the pop-up window, enter the Zoom meeting ID to be imported, then click the blue button that says “Import” (2). Your meeting will now be visible from within Canvas to your students.

the Import button will complete the process
