Meet the Staff Mondays: Ashley Edwards

Every submission period, the bulk of our submissions are poetry. With the end of this semester’s submission period, there’s nobody better to get to know than our Poetry Section Editor, Ashley Edwards. She’s our one and only poetry boss, and she’s sure to lead our poetry editors through a successful review and design period.

Name: Ashley Edwards
Major: Social Work
Year:  Junior

Ashley’s Five Favorites:

1. Pudding
2. Audre Lorde
3. Working with adolescents
4. Atlanta
5.  The Office and Arrested Development…. at the same time

If you could trade lives with any poet, who would it be?

Audre Lorde, she did so much.

Would you rather take your chances at the zombie apocalypse or get stuck on a deserted island?

I’d rather be stuck on a deserted island. I imagine the zombie apocalypse would be pretty stressful; I’d probably die of a heart attack before things got good.

If you could abolish a word from the English language, what would it be?

Twerk. I’m tired of hearing people say it.

If you were an ice cream flavor, what would it be?

Oh god! That’s such a hard question. Blue Bell’s Lemon Bliss ice cream. In a waffle cone.

Favorite piece from past Circle’s?

“You’d Think He’d Smoke Blacks” by Bradley Zellner

What’s your favorite thing about working for The Auburn Circle

Being able to read all the wonderful student work that comes in. The Circle provides a valuable outlet through which students can share their talents with the campus at large.
