Amanda Wenzel: English Department Summer in London, England 2019

In the Summer of 2019 I got to join the Auburn English Department on their study abroad program in London, England. We stayed at the beautiful campus of Regents University that was central to all the exciting London attractions. I made priceless memories and friendships with the other students on our trip.

One of my favorite parts of the program was the Regents University theatre class that paid for us to attend all sorts of plays, musicals, and performance art pieces while we also learned about them in class. Our Auburn professors also lead us on trips through the city and to some of London’s most remarkable museums. It was a unique and incredible experience to be able to see exactly what we were studying in person. This experience allowed me and my classmates to gain a living knowledge and understanding about the material. From hearing Shakespeare in the Globe Theater to history lessons at the British Museum I will never forget the knowledge I gained.

On weekends we would take trains to explore other English cities or fly to other European countries. During these weekend adventures as able to travel to multiple other European countries including France and Ireland. During our trip to Ireland I was able to meet up with one of my friends from Auburn who was also studying abroad in Dublin. It was so much fun to be able to see each other across the pond! I am so thankful for the friendships I made studying abroad and my new-found passion for traveling.
