Health Promotion & Wellness Services provides a wide array of evidence-based programs to address alcohol and substance use issues. Through our programs, students are able to explore how their substance use may be impacting other areas of their life in a non-judgmental and safe environment. Furthermore, students are able to learn skills to reduce their risk for substance related consequences, including negative effects on health, academic performance, and finances.
In all of our services and programs, we utilize a harm reduction approach. Through this approach, we:
Yes! Our staff has modified its approach to complete TESI appointments with students remotely (via Zoom).
Yes! Our staff is supporting students in the SUIT program remotely. We have implemented the following changes to the program to accommodate students:
If you are referred to complete the TESI program from AU Housing or the Office of Student Conduct, a staff member in that office will work with you to schedule an appointment.
You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment.
If you need to reschedule an appointment, please email email@example.com.
We ask that you cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours prior to your original appointment time to avoid incurring a late cancellation fee. This advanced notice enables us to be flexible and efficient in scheduling appointments with other students.
We understand that students may have extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness, personal or family emergency, etc.) that may require them to cancel or reschedule their TESI appointment. As always, our staff is happy to accommodate students’ schedules as these circumstances arise.
Yes. Due to the policies outlined in our Remote Student Services Agreements for TESI and SUIT, our staff are not able to complete the appointment without video capabilities. Both the student and staff members are expected to have their videos on for each TESI and SUIT appointment.
We ask that for appointments students are seated upright in a private/confidential space in which they feel comfortable. Please be sure the space has sufficient lighting as well so that the staff member you are meeting with can see you.
Beginning August 10, 2020, our staff will resume the assessment of late cancellation/missed appointment fees. Students will be charged a late cancellation/missed appointment fee for failing to cancel/reschedule at least 24 hours prior to their original appointment time or for missing their scheduled appointment without advanced notice. The late cancellation/no show fees are outlined below:
TESI Late Cancellation / Missed Appointment Fees
SUIT Late Cancellation / Missed Appointment Fees
All charges will be billed to a student’s eBill account.
During this time, our staff continues to prioritize the confidentiality of appointments. Our staff will be doing appointments from a private and confidential space and we encourage students to do the same. We will use Zoom software to complete appointments, which can be accessed through Auburn University’s Biggio Center. A HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom can also be accessed through https://ausecure.zoom.us. If you already have a Zoom account, you will be prompted to ‘Switch to the New Account’ and then choose ‘I Acknowledge and Switch’ to complete the transfer to the HIPAA-compliant version of Zoom.
