Auburn falls to Ole Miss

Auburn Hockey took on #7 ranked Ole Miss this weekend at the Columbus Ice Rink.
Ole Miss opened the scoring Friday night with a goal 13 minutes into the first period. The Tigers answered with a goal from #10 Chris Hickley assisted by #14 Sonny MacCurrah and #21 Evan Barber. The Freshmen’s goal tied the game 1-1 with two minutes left in the first.

Auburn’s Sonny MacCurrah scored the only goal in the second period with an assist from #37 Jeremy Fisher, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead going into the third period.

Ole Miss took advantage of a power play to tie up the game 18 minutes into the third. The Rebels scored the game winning goal with six minutes left in the game, making the final score 3-2.

The Rebel offense dominated Saturday’s game, scoring two goals in the first, four goals in the second, and four goals in the third, for a grand total of 10 goals.

The lone Auburn goal came three minutes into the third from #44 Colby Stevens assisted by #3 Trevor Hightower and #6 Jake Redfearn. It was Stevens first goal of the season.

Auburn will host the University of Tennessee this weekend for the final home games of the season.
The puck drops at 8pm EST on Friday, Feb. 15th at the Columbus Ice Rink. Saturday’s game is at 3pm EST at the Columbus Civic Center.
