The Auburn Ice Hockey Team is proud to announce that the newly constructed Columbus Ice Rink will be their home ice for the 2011-2012 season. This new facility is conveniently located next door to the Columbus Civic Center, just off US 280.
The Ice Rink, which was completed earlier this year, is home to several other hockey programs including the Columbus Hockey Association and the Florida State Ice Hockey Team. It will also provide public skating, figure skating, and a great venue for parties. It is a 38,122 square foot facility that has a seating capacity of 713 seats and it contains a state-of-the-art Bose sound system, a VIP area overlooking the rink, a sizeable lobby, a Snack Bar, and a Pro Shop. The ice itself is NHL regulation-size with a measurement of 200’x85’. For more information about the services offered at the rink go to www.columbusicerink.org.
“The team and staff are very excited to be in the new rink. It is a great facility and we are extremely happy to have the opportunity to call this our home ice. We can proudly say that we have the best home ice in the SECHC,” says Club President Elliott Chenger.
The Tigers will break the ice this Sunday, September 25 at 1 pm eastern against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Come out and join us for the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling second season.
The Columbus Ice Rink is very easy to get to. If you are coming from Auburn take Interstate 85 North, then exit 62. Turn right off the exit toward Columbus onto US 280. Continue on US 280 and the Ice Rink will be just on the other side of the Georgia/Alabama state line, on your right.
