Karson Fair, a psychology & human development and family studies dual major at Auburn University, has been chosen to represent Auburn in the 2018 Miss Alabama pageant.
During her time at Auburn, Karson has taken advantage of many involvement opportunities on campus to make Auburn her home. Karson has worked as an on-campus resident assistant, an S.O.S. transfer orientation leader, member of Alpha Gamma Delta, and volunteer with Auburn University Dance Marathon. Most recently, she competed and won the title of Miss Auburn University. As a transfer student, Karson noted the importance of getting involved saying “it takes you from being an Auburn student to being a part of the Auburn family.” To her, this is the single most important thing a student can do in their collegiate experience outside of excelling scholastically.
Karson’s platform is titled “Know Your Worth.” When asked what this means to her, Karson said, “my main goal is to remind others of their unique capabilities and worth in order to create a wave of self-love and positive self-esteem in our community.” To promote her platform, Karson hosted a week-long initiative on campus this past spring, visited local city schools to touch on aspects of self-esteem that impact this age group in particular, and worked with local organizations to spread her message. “So much of what we do is rooted in our self-esteem,” said Karson, “it’s important to know who we are and how valuable we are so that our decisions and goals are rooted in confidence instead of self-doubt.”
Karson will be competing the the Miss Alabama pageant June 6-9 and we wish her the best of luck!
