Women’s Leadership Conference

<p class=\'autodayp1\'>The Auburn University Women’s Center\, a division of the Office of Inclusion and Diversity\, will host its 11th annual Women’s Leadership Conference at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.</p><p class=\'autodayp1\'>The conference\, with the theme “Be Bold\, Be Powerful\, Be You\,” will feature Heidi Durrow\, the New York Times bestselling author of “The Girl Who Fell From the Sky\,” as the luncheon keynote speaker. Durrow’s book received the Barbara Kingsolver’s PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction.</p>
Durrow is a graduate of Stanford\, Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism and Yale Law School. Originally from the Pacific Northwest\, she has worked as a corporate attorney at Cravath\, Swaine and Moore and as a Life Skills trainer to professional athletes of the National Football League and National Basketball Association.

Ebony Magazine named Durrow as one of its Power 100 Leaders of 2010 along with writers Edwidge Danticat and Malcolm Gladwell. She was nominated for a 2011 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Debut.

This one-day conference will feature a series of workshops to choose from that will provide the opportunity to learn about and explore a variety of issues relevant to women today. The goal is to facilitate the development of emerging leaders and provide women with the necessary resources to assume leadership roles beyond the campus setting.
