Bangkok, Thailand – June 18, 2015 – The first ‘UFWH Conference Thailand 2015’ was held on 18 June at Stenden Rangsit University to raise awareness among the participants of the world hunger issue as part of the ‘Universities Fighting World Hunger’ initiative. The event organized by students for students, was a huge success.
The goal of the conference was to share knowledge, create new network opportunities between all participants, and to create awareness amongst the participants about hunger issues. With the event, around 180 students of Rangsit University Thailand and Stenden Rangsit University got the opportunity to join interesting sessions and gain knowledge to participate in the fight against hunger.
The program consisted of experienced speakers from well-known organizations, such as Emmanuel Lan Chun Yang, the Regional Emergency Coordinator Asia-Pacific at CARE International and Yngvil Foss, Regional Coordinator from United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The topics ranged from hunger in emergency contexts, to hunger and social media, to environmental relations with hunger.
The event was the first one of its kind in Thailand. With the event, students of Stenden Rangsit University made other students, Thai as well as international, aware of the world hunger problem.
