What is WriteFest BootCamp?
WriteFest BootCamps provide students in the writing stages of their theses, dissertations, or pieces for publication with the time, space, and resources to work on their writing. Participants will benefit from the opportunity to join a community of writers, participate in discussion and information sessions, and get feedback from Miller Writing Center consultants. There are two types of bootcamps:
- WriteFest BootCamp Series (offered in fall and spring): Offers structured writing time periodically throughout the semester.
- WriteFest BootCamp Intensive Program (offered in spring and summer): Offers two full days of consecutive writing time.
Who Should Attend?
Graduate students working on their thesis, dissertation, or piece of publication and undergraduate students working on an Honors thesis.
When and Where Does it Happen?

Application Procedure: Complete the registration form, providing us with your writing goals and the name and email address of an AU faculty member who can recommend your participation in this program. Your writing goals should be something concrete and measurable (finish the first draft of a thesis chapter or section, draft an introduction, revise a chapter - something reasonably specific and tangible).
Acceptance into the Program: We will contact the AU faculty member you identified to verify that you are a good candidate for this program. Upon receiving verification from the faculty member, we will notify you of your acceptance into BootCamp.
Expectations for Participants
WriteFest BootCamps are free events. However, you must commit to attend the entirety of each event (all four sessions for the series; both days for the intensive program). If you do not fulfill this commitment, or do not notify our office of your need to cancel by seven business days prior to the start of a session, a $30 cancellation fee will be charged to your AU Bursar’s account. This fee covers the cost of arranging for consultants and pre-ordering refreshments (snacks and coffee are provided during the series; meals are provided during the intensive program).
