The Writers’ Block is the Miller Writing Center’s weekly radio show, featuring MWC consultants Phineas Dowling and David Vinson. Tune in Tuesdays at 3 p.m. CT on WEGL 91.1 FM Auburn, or stream the show live at

Each show explores some aspect of writing and also showcases student, faculty, and professional writers and writing from Auburn and across the world. And, of course, we listen to great music along the way.

Although the show is a production of the Miller Writing Center, it’s not a show where “experts” tell you how to be better writers. This is a show about life and how writing is a part of life. The show celebrates writing in all its forms (poetry, academic research, computer programming, music, visual design, and beyond) and how writing connects to lived experience. We’re here to help you (and ourselves) figure out how to be better writers by talking about writing in a productive and constructive way, rather than a directive and critical way.

We’re writers, not experts.
