The square is the heart and soul of Elba, and this project creates a large room that opens entirely onto the square. It forms a space where the community can gather for a meal, rest during Halloween or hold a farmers market during the summer. This project creates one large room by proposing to move the stage and service spaces to one side of the building. For performances to be held in the theater, there needs to be adequate space for dancers / actors / musicians to wait in the wings and a place for quick wardrobe changes. So, this proposal maximizes the stage to twenty-seven feet with two wings and a dressing room while forming one large open space. This space can remain as a large room or be divided into two separate spaces (lobby and theater) by a large curtain that acts as both a visual and acoustic barrier.
