Crisis

How to deal with mental health emergencies.

Emergency Services:

Student Counseling & Psychological Services (SCPS) maintains emergency services throughout the year. SCPS keeps the same calendar as the university and is open when the university is open. If you or someone you know is experiencing an urgent crisis, then SCPS provides consultation, assessment, and evaluation as needed.

Regular Business Hours:

To access emergency services during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm), students can either call our office at 334-844-5123 or come directly to the SCPS. SCPS has two locations. Our original office is located on the second floor of the Auburn University Medical Clinic at 400 Lem Morrison Drive in Suite 2086. AUMC is located on the corner of Lem Morrison Drive and Duncan Drive. Our second location is in the basement of Haley Center. It can be reached by taking the stairs down from the Thach Concourse or taking the elevator to the bottom floor of Haley Center and following the signage. The address is 351 Thach Concourse, Haley Center, Room 0326.

After Hours and Weekends:

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health-related crisis or emergency after regular business hours, during weekends, or during a holiday, then call the SCPS office at 334-844-5123 to speak to an after-hours counselor.

Immediate Physical Danger or Threat:

If you need immediate assistance in responding to disruption or a threat to your safety, or the safety of others, or imminent threat to the student’s health and safety, dial Auburn Public Safety at 911. The department is staffed 24 hours a day and can dispatch law enforcement personnel to your location. The non-emergency number is 334-501-3100.

Other Mental Health Crisis Resources:

The East Alabama Mental Health Center has a toll free number that may be called 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergencies  at 800-815-0630. The clinician on-call will assist you as needed.
